Hi Beth,

What an interesting post. Sounds like the book you mentioned is a very worthwhile read. I have trouble getting into a headspace that allows for flow. I'm wondering, does reading count? When I read, I do find that stress and sense of time can disappear. I have trouble sometimes getting into that headspace though. I'm so easily distracted. Writing does it for me at times. Exercise, hmmm not so sure. Usually, I'm just thinking about getting done. Anyway, food for thought! I'm so glad you get so deeply immersed in your art. It benefits not only you, but us too! Thanks for an insightful read.

Hi Nancy, thank you for your kind words about my artwork. Yes, absolutely reading counts as a flow-inducing activity! Really any activity requiring work and some focus counts. I wonder if you experienced any flow writing your stellar books. I know that it's hard work to write a book, but it can be cathartic and encourage flow. Also if you've ever gotten immersed in writing a blog post, chances are good that you've experienced flow!

What a fantastic article Beth on the concept of Flow! It seems incumbent upon all of us to discover something where we are so focused that we lose ourselves in this timeless experience. You are fortunate and wise to keep mining this with your artwork and your writing.

Thank you for the kind, insightful comment, Gerry. I believe flow is essential to having a quality life. I'm so grateful to be able to get so lost in my crafts that I lose track of all sense and time.
