A Wake-Up Call
The media and our society need to wake up regarding the truth of Biden’s recent prostate cancer diagnosis – as well as be aware of triggers that afflict so many.
I'm deeply saddened about former U.S. president Joe Biden's advanced prostate cancer diagnosis. My wish for him, and by extension, his family is for him to have minimal suffering and to live a peaceful rest of his life with his loved ones.
I've seen so many people – from former U.S. presidents to other leaders – wishing Biden a "speedy recovery." Alene Nitzky has written about this from an oncology nurse perspective, and she is spot on.
Speedy recovery from Stage IV cancer is a myth.
Cancer is cruel.
Although I am no medical professional, my sense is that Biden will not survive this disease. We live in a culture where the reality of metastatic cancer is brushed under the proverbial carpet. Modern medicine cannot cure Stage IV. What modern medicine can do, however, is offer palliative care and make Biden as comfortable as possible.
An empath, I have unfortunately not been able to remove myself psychologically from the Biden family. As someone who has had cancer and PTSD that resulted from diagnosis, treatment, and beyond, I have been triggered.
Truth is, I’ve watched a good number of people die from cancer. And, of course, my being diagnosed and treated for cancer in the past still hits too close to home. I never felt the full weight of mortality until I was diagnosed and convinced I would die a gruesome death. Although I survived thus far, the emotional scars are omnipresent.
This has been a brief post, but frankly, I have no more words left. I am not sleeping well. I am spent. Next week’s post will contain art.

Beth, I don’t know if quantifying the suffering that people endure somehow would make any difference in a world that values numbers and dollar signs, but this is an additional burden that is a result of our horribly inadequate and inept healthcare system. Thanks for the link to my post. I’m so glad we talked the other day. Take care of yourself.
Cancer is so cruel and strikes with little warning in most cases. I was intrigued by Biden's advanced prostate cancer. My first thought -- why wasn't it detected sooner? He receives the best medical care of anyone. But when I did some research, I found out that after 70 years of age, it's not recommended by the medical establishment to test for it anymore. I was very surprised to discover that. I feel bad for his family -- they've had so much to endure. Take care.
