A Metamorphosis
Shaping up
I’m really happy about how this painting is turning out. To my surprise, it has taken on an ethereal quality of its own, a style I’ve never had before. But I like this transformation.
I’m still debating whether to have the ground be composed of concrete pavers. I straightened out the building’s side and reworked the sunset.
I added a tree and lo and behold, another happy accident: The bottom of the tree has taken on the colors of the sunset, an effect I simply love. Still, the tree needs a little work – maybe. Its shape is not extremely realistic, but it does fit into the ethereal theme of the painting. I won’t be adding leaves.
I added blue pillars to the building’s side – I really like this shade of blue – and plan to add tilework on them after they dry. Nothing extravagant. I added white stripes to the awnings over the building’s entryways.
Art is such a healer of sorts. I’m so lucky it is part of my self-care regimen.

It’s wonderful how you share your process with us, Beth! What a wonderful unfolding.
I love the tree! I don’t think it needs anything else, the colors of the sky blended into it are perfect. I agree, no leaves. I also like the way the colors of the sky show on the whitish top of the building.
